Information for Letter Writers
Thank you for assisting us in the application process for the UC Merced Physics REU.
We would greatly appreciate your honest appraisal of the applicant’s ability to conduct independent research as a participant in the REU program. This may include an assessment of particular strengths and weaknesses, ways in which the student will benefit from participation, scientific/research skills, work ethic, ability to contribute within a research group and/or additional context you may wish to provide, along with an indication of how well you know the applicant.
Letters of recommendation should include both the candidate's and the recommender's last names, preferably on institutional letterhead.

The initial review of applicants will begin on Feb. 10, but applications and letters will be accepted until all positions are filled. We will provide updates on the page above to indicate when all spots have been filled.
