Hotel Accommodation

Students

Students presenting at the conference are eligible to receive up to two nights of accommodation on a shared basis. Also, students will be eligible for travel awards of up to $100 to cover other travel expenses.

Students who wish to book a shared room (no single rooms are available) must submit their application using this Google form.

You will be asked to provide the following information:

  • Complete name and affiliation. Indicate if you plan to present at the conference (talk or poster; Only one person per presentation can be considered for travel and lodging support). 
  • Registration confirmation number.
  • Which night(s) you require accommodation for and if you have a preferred roommate. (Note that only roommates presenting a poster or talk at the conference will be considered for housing support.)
  • Your gender (for roommate assignments.)

Non-students

If you are not a student, Rooms at a preferential rate ($125 + Tax) can be reserved at The Courtyard Marriott by phone. To take advantage of our negotiated rate mention the APS Far West conference. A block of rooms has been set aside for conference attendees until November 8th, 2017. Read the cancellation policy carefully. 

Nearby hotels (no special rate for the conference): Holiday Inn Express, Best Western.

Getting to UC Merced and Parking

UC Merced, 5200 N. Lake Road, is about eight miles northeast of the city of Merced’s downtown area.

If you plan to arrive on campus by car (recommended). Parking for the Friday reception will be in the Lake parking lots near the campus entrance. Please purchase visitor parking at the machine.

Parking on Saturday will be free.

City of Merced Buses provide services from downtown to campus but do not serve the hotel areas.

Driving directions from southbound Highway 99

  • Head southeast on CA-99 South.
  • Take Exit 187B toward Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
  • Turn left onto CA-59 North/Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
  • Take the third right onto West 16th Street.
  • Take the third left onto G Street.
  • Turn right onto East Bellevue Road.
  • Turn left at Lake Road.
  • Arrive at main entrance to the UC Merced campus.

Driving directions from northbound Highway 99

  • Head northwest on CA-99 North.
  • Take exit 187A for G Street.
  • Turn right onto G Street.
  • Turn right onto East Bellevue Road.
  • Turn left at Lake Road.
  • Arrive at main entrance to the UC Merced campus.
